Now might be a pretty good time to stock up on hard drives, before the prices start to shoot up. Catastrophic flooding in Thailand has had a negative impact on about 70-80% of the manufacturing of hard drives and their necessary components. Hardest his is Western Digital which has been forced to close plants, but also affected are; Samsung, Hitachi, Seagate, and Toshiba. Many retailer have a supply of drives for the next couple of weeks, but when that’s all gone, expect price to shoot up.
